My name is Susana Quevedo.
I am a Teacher of English from the University of Chile and became a Fulbright Exchange Teacher to Montana (1990-1991).
The experience was so important for my school community in Chillán, who welcomed a native Teacher of English, and for myself who had the opportunity to teach both Spanish and Speech classes at an Indian Reservation school in Montana.
I could interact with students from 13 different countries, and even found a second family there.
During that time, I travelled to study at the University of Montana, where I was even offered the chance to teach Spanish and continue my studies.
Living in Montana was all positive, except for the so cold weather and the grizzly bear tracks that made me leave the precious setting where I was living, and obliged me to move closer to town.
Upon my return, I could work at all the different levels of the educational system in Chile, from secondary to tertiary education, and gave me the chance to start teaching my own English class format becoming a Coach for International Examinations such as TOEFL, IELTS or GRE Tests, and an In-Office Teacher for different companies. At present, I am happy to accompany my students’ road towards getting the test scores they need to obtain the scholarships or jobs they are applying for.
Been a Fulbrighter made up a difference in my life. It opened up so many doors giving me the chance to travel to different places and to meet incredible people.
I cannot but be available to share my experience and continue talking about the blessings of international studies and mutual understanding.
